Up to 95% of households now have a kerbside collection of recyclables such as newspapers, magazines, plastic bottles, and food and drinks cans. The HWRCs can take things like green garden waste, glass, textiles and bulky waste. However, there are also a number of items that we cannot recycle, and a handy guide is available on this website.

The District and City Councils, as Waste Collection Authorities, are responsible for providing sites where people can take their recyclable waste, or arranging for separate collections from the house. Details of the recycling facilities available in your area are given in the regional factsheets pages. The information is divided up according to the corresponding city/district/borough.
