Residents in Hart helped break all barriers this Christmas by delivering over 2000 Christmas trees for recycling.

Thanks to Hook and Redfields Garden Centres who allowed trees to be collected in their car parks and the Household Waste Recycling Centres, this year's campaign exceeded the target of 2000 trees, that’s one tree for every sixteen homes. The first 200 people bringing their tree for recycling could also take away a bag of   Pro-Grow soil conditioner for 50p instead of the normal price £1.95. All trees were chipped free by Shafer Estates Management and taken to a Hampshire Waste Services composting site at Little Bushy Warren Copse, Basingstoke, to be turned into more Pro-Grow!

Quentin Wallace-Jones, Hart’s Waste Management and Recycling Manager said, "Green garden waste is a valuable resource which in Hampshire is being turned into Pro-Grow, a top quality soil conditioner. By recycling their Christmas trees and buying Pro-Grow I am very pleased to see so many residents closing the recycling loop and helping to turn their waste into a useful product."

Green garden waste collected at Hartley Wintney and Farnborough Household Waste Recycling Centres is now composted at Little Bushy Warren Copse all year round saving over 6,000 tonnes of waste going to landfill. Pro-Grow is also available to buy all year round at all Hampshire Household Waste Recycling Centres.
