Giant wheel-bin now officially open Children from Padnell Junior School, Cowplain, recently spent an enjoyable morning at INTECH in Winchester as they performed the official opening and first test of a brand new educational exhibit – a giant wheel-bin. The children had a wonderful time exploring the interactive displays that accompany the new exhibit. The inside of the bin has been furnished like a shopping aisle, and using hand-held scanners, the children went ‘shopping’ for the best environmentally friendly products. The new exhibit has been developed by Project Integra, Hampshire County Council and ONYX Hampshire in collaboration with INTECH, and is designed to give children informed choices about waste and recycling issues. INTECH provides an interactive educational resource for the general public and local schools to teach children aged 5-18 about science and technology in a fun and imaginative way. Councillor Roland Dibbs, Chairman of Project Integra’s Management Board said: "This exciting new exhibit gives us a new and innovative platform for promoting waste awareness to Hampshire’s young generation. Children are a very important audience during the challenging times we have ahead of us as we face up to the Government’s targets to improve our recycling rates to above 40 percent." Philip Winfield, the Director of INTECH, is similarly delighted with the success of their latest exhibit: "All INTECH’s interactive exhibits help people make informed choices about key scientific issues, including waste management. Our partnership with Project Integra has resulted in an innovative, educational exhibit which is geared for all ages and will help us fulfil our role in the community."
