19 March 2004 News From Project Integra – Recycling Resources for Hampshire
These are just some of the topics under discussion when Project Integra’s Management Board meet at Fleet next Thursday 25th March. Project Integra is the award winning partnership between all Hampshire Councils dealing with waste. The partnership currently recycles or composts 25% of Hampshire’s waste and aims to reach 40% by 2006. Steve Read, Executive Officer for the partnership, said "The Management Board is where joined up decisions are made about how we can turn Hampshire’s rubbish into a resource. The Board meets every 3 months and the venue is moved around the county to demonstrate that we represent the interest of all residents in the County, from Hayling Island to Hartley Wintney and from Fordingbridge to Farnborough". The Board, which meets in public, is made up from one elected councillor from Hampshire County Council, Hart District Council and the other 12 local authorities in the County as well as Hampshire Waste Services, the private sector company with responsibility for processing or disposing of Hampshire’s household waste. The Board is Chaired by Cllr Roland Dibbs of Rushmoor Borough Council. Cllr Dibbs said "Councillors appointed to the Board are those with responsibility for waste and the environment within their own authorities. This means that Project Integra promotes joined up thinking across the whole county and everyone has a voice". The Board meets in public session at the Council Chamber, Hart District Council, Harlington Way, Fleet, starting at 9.30am on Thursday 25 March. For further information please contact Steve Read |
