CHRISTMAS REVELLERS RECYCLE RESOLUTION

Christmas comes but once a year, and when it comes it brings good cheer – plus of course thousands of tonnes of glass bottles! Which is why waste management company, Onyx, are urging revellers to recycle their bottles this Christmas.

"Each year some 23,000 tonnes of glass in Hampshire alone goes to landfill when it could be recycled" explains John Collis, a director of Onyx. "At Christmas the amount of glass going to landfill rockets.

"Disposing of glass to our landfill sites has both an environmental and financial impact for us all. The cost to Hampshire residents is nearly £1 million each year. This money could be saved and we could help save our environment in the process.

"So when Christmas is over and the champagne fumes have cleared, we’d ask Hampshire people to add glass recycling to their list of New Year resolutions and take empty bottles to the bottle bank."

Bottles and glass jars can be recycled at supermarket and pub car park sites across Hampshire as well as at any of the 26 household waste recycling centres in the county.
