PRO-GROW SETS SAIL FOR THE ISLE OF WIGHT

Green minded and green fingered gardeners on the Isle of Wight can now spread a special kind of compost on their favourite blooms. Pro-Grow, the enormously successful organic soil conditioner made at Down End, Fareham from recycled garden waste is making its way across the Solent to Isle of Wight garden centre’s for the first time.

Honnor & Jeffrey who operate the Isle of Wight’s largest garden centres are the latest supplier to make Pro-Grow available. Honnor & Jeffrey’s Dalverton Garden Centre and Afton Garden Centre will become the Island’s major stockists.

Pro-Grow which is produced from recycled grass cuttings, trimmings and other ‘green’ waste has been produced by Onyx for the last five years. The much acclaimed soil conditioner is endorsed by groups like Friends of the Earth and the Soil Association and offers a much needed alternative to peat based products which continue to pose a threat to low-land peat bogs.

"With an anticipated production of 45,000 tonnes over the course of the next year" says Peter Mills composting manager for Onyx "we are in the happy position of being able to offer Pro-Grow to an ever growing band of gardeners who are looking for soil conditioners which offer a peat free alternative."
