<body> <h1>Project Integra - Beacon Council - Sustainable Development Dealing with Waste</h1> <h2>Project Integra:<br> The Local Authorities of Hampshire</h2> <h3>Best practice</h3> <p>Project Integra - a county wide household waste management partnership of local authorities within Hampshire and the private sector company Hampshire waste Services; </p> <p>Integrated household waste management involving action on all elements of the waste chain - production, collection, processing and disposal - and an emphasis on the overall process rather then the discrete elements and </p> <p>Achievement of economic development consistent with sustainable development through waste management. </p> <h3>Dissemination proposals</h3> <p>We propose holding two open days. The first will be on the development of Project Integra, its achievements and challenges, with a focus on how partnerships bring influence and economies of scale. The second will concentrate on waste as a resource and will be supported by guest speakers. </p> <p>We also propose to hold a seminar covering locking waste management into the economic development and sustainable agendas (to include interactive sessions, and aimed at economic development officers, chief executives, industrialists and community businesses). </p> <p>As part of our human resource activities, we will offer 10 work shadowing placements in the Integra partnership covering 25 days (one day a week in term time). We will structure these to reflect the 14 partners (including the contractor), the whole waste stream activities, and the strategic/operational diversity of the project. </p> <p>Project Integra will continue to provide advice and welcome visits from local authorities and others on a request basis.
