Common Approach to Safety and Health - "CASH"
'The 10 Commitments'

The Common Approach to Safety & Health (CASH) group are committed to ensuring that no matter where a carrier of waste or recyclable products tip or collect the driver will know that all facilities operated by group members are working to the same ten base line health & safety requirements listed below.

1. COMMON STANDARD OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
(To ensure personal safety on sites the mandatory use of high visibility clothing, protective foot wear and head protection where designated)

2.  NO WALKING UNDER UNPROPPED OR UNSECURED DOORS, BINS OR BODYWORK.

3.  SITES TO INDICATE WHERE AND WHEN TO TIP, AT ANY ONE TIME.
(Site operators define how many vehicles can fit into one space safely)

4.  DRIVER ONLY PERMITTED OUTSIDE VEHICLE IN TIPPING AREA
(To eliminate the risk of tipping vehicles moving when tipping controls are being operated outside of the vehicle)

5.  NO RIDING ON OUTSIDE OF VEHICLES
(A proven cause of death and injury in the workplace)

6.  NO ONE SHALL KNOWINGLY WALK PAST AN UNSAFE ACT
(A legal duty to all under the Health & safety at Work Act 1974)

7.ALWAYS RESPOND TO ANY CONCERNS RAISED
(Working to build confidence in your workforce in your capacity to manage and monitor safety)

8.  REPORT THROUGH AN AGREED COMMON SYSTEM
(To have in place robust and commonly understood systems of reporting. To resolve problems rather than apportion blame)

9.  SUPERVISORS WILL SUPERVISE
(To provide interactive management and supervision in the workplace)

10.. LOOK AFTER YOURSELF AND OTHERS
